Emergencies and Out-of-hours service
One of the practice doctors is on call during the day, from 8.00am until 6.00pm .

We have full emergency equipment at the practice, including oxygen, defibrillator and ventilator. All staff are trained in basic life support and Nurse Alison Hawley holds a current Advanced Life Support certificate.

Staffordshire Ambulance Service now provides a prompt emergency service in this area, through a network of first responders, supported by ambulance crews and an air ambulance.

In any serious emergency (e.g. severe chest pain, collapse, unconsciousness, serious accident, etc.) PHONE 999 FIRST to ensure that appropriate support is on its way. You may then contact the practice for further advice and assistance.

The out-of-hours service (nights, weekends and bank holidays) is provided by North Staffordshire Urgent Care, based at Basford. Please phone the usual Waterhouses surgery number (01538 308207) for details of emergency cover or phone the number on the front of this leaflet if you know that the surgery is closed.

The minor injuries department at Leek Moorlands Hospital is open every day from 8.00 till 20.00. Minor injuries and minor illnesses (eg throat infections) can be treated there but there is no doctor available. Tel 01538 487104 to check if they can help you.
